Directions: From Highway 280, take the Foothill Expressway exit. Head due South on Foothill expressway. After a couple of miles, Foothill Expressway changes names to Steven's Canyon Road (not to be confused with Steven's Creek Road). Follow this road as it heads into the hills. You will see the reservoir on your left after you crest a steep hill
Parking: Parking in the lot requires payment. I've noticed that people often park their cars just outside the lot to avoid payment. Payment is a little difficult, as the permit must be purchased in the lower (main) parking lot. There is also a boat launch fee - also payable at the lower lot.
Facilities: There is a port-o-potty right near the put in. When the reservoir is full, there is a kayak and canoe friendly boat launch ramp. As the water vanishes from the reservoir, the ramp inches farther down the dirt from the pavement. This also means a longer portage.
Amenities: There is an on site kayak rental place That is open during summer weekends.
Cautions: This is about as safe as paddling can get. The biggest danger is drowning in the generally warm water. Next biggest danger is getting hooked by one of the people who are illegally fishing beyond the sign that says, "no fishing beyond this point."
Kayak Fishing Info: This reservoir is a popular destination for fishing. The reservoir has bass, blue gill, crappie and catfish.
