Put-in information for Pigeon Point State of California

Suggested By PeterD

Overview: Protected beach at the lighthouse gives access to some great paddles for rock gardening, or to see migrating grey whales (in season).

Directions: About 20 minutes south of Half Moon bay on Highway 1. Take the exit for Pigeon Point Lighthouse and park at the lighthouse. Beach is accessible by stairs (which are under construction/repairs as of 4/2007) on the south side of the point. The Stairs are Done.Get there early before the all the people show up to Google at the Lighthouse so that you can get close Parking.

Parking: Free parking in the lighthouse parking lot or along the road

Facilities: Porta-potties

Amenities: The lighthouse is a hostel.

Cautions: The beach is normally well protected, but is south facing (so waves from the south will directly impact it). Also this beach sends you out on to the open ocean.

Kayak Fishing Info: I have not launched here but have Fished around the Corner on the Shore and did well in the Past. It does look like it had posabilties for Fish. I am a little Chicken of the Ocean and am not to sure if I will ever launch my Kayak in the Ocean.
