Overview: The launch site is a small sandy beach just north of Chevys Fresh Mex restaurant. One can explore the Bay adjacent to Emeryville or connect to the nearby launch sites of the Emeryville Marina (launch site #56) or Point Emery (#55). There used to be folk art in the water here -- only two remain.

Directions: Site is located off of West Frontage Road just west of highway 80. West Frontage Road is one way heading south. So, you start on Ashby Avenue (or University Avenue) in Berkeley heading west and following signs to I-80 heading south but take an immediate right from the off ramp instead of continuing onto the freeway (similar to directions to Emery Point launch). Continue south about 2000 feet.

Parking: There are about 10 spaces along on the street.

Facilities: None.

Amenities: Adjacent are walk ways over the water. With these and the sandy beach, this is a child friendly launch place.

Cautions: Waves can break a little when entering at beach. If you have your kayak parallel to waves then water might enter. If there are sizable waves make sure kayak is pointing into the wave fronts.
