We Live Like Kings I didn't write this, but I typed it up from a book called
"Becoming a Master Student." by David B. Ellis
"Step back in time just 100 years and imagine how a king might have lived. He would have enough to eat. Several times a year, he would have a feast. In his food, there would be spices from the four corners of the earth. There would be so much delicious food that he would be stuffed when he was finished. Good drink would abound. This king of a century past would have entertainment at his fingertips. If he wanted music, a clap of his hands would bring him dozens of songs. If he wanted humor, he could summon the court jester. If he wanted variety or drama, he could watch the actors of the court. Transportation was no problem for the king. He could go anywhere he wanted. Horses were always ready and a driver would chauffeur him from kingdom to kingdom in a matter of days or weeks. Dress was lavish. He wore the finest cloth. It was smooth and colorful and cleaned frequently. Unlike lesser mortals, his clothes kept him dry and warm. He got new clothes at least once a year and never had to wear anything that was full of holes. His house was a castle. It was clean, dry, and had warm fireplaces in many rooms. He was safe from nature, and the weather and was relatively safe from intruders. In short, he lived like a king. He
didn't have it nearly as good as almost everyone in the Untied States today, but
he lived like a king."
