Kayak Put-In Info for: Albany Beach, Albany
Overview: Albany Beach is one of those rare spots in the Bay Area which has remained fairly unregulated. East Bay Parks is trying to develop the area, but is having difficulty with groups who want to maintain it as it is. The area to the west is called "The Bulb" and was formerly a landfill.
Parking: There is parking along the racetrack fenceline. There is a 2 hour limit, but doesn't seem to be enforced, especially during racetrack off-season.
Facilities: Port-a-potty at the foot of Buchanan. No additional facilities, other than a nice sand beach. It's about 1/4 mile easy walk.
Amenities: Other than parking.....none...bring your own water.
Directions: From I-80 take the Buchanan Street exit onto Buchanan Street - West, which runs along the north side of the racetrack.
Cautions: There are a lot of rocks and concrete debris along the shoreline. The put-in site shown on the map is a sandy beach.
