For many years, my goal has been to offer a free GPS repair tool, supported solely by voluntary donations. Helping people fix their tracks and hearing how my tools have "saved the day" brings me real joy. Thanks to your generosity, the website has grown in popularity, and your donations have allowed me to keep the site running and continually upgrade our servers to improve your experience. Although the donation term was set at one year, I haven’t strictly enforced it—I genuinely want everyone to be happy, and I believe free tools are important.
Recent Challenges
Unfortunately, in June 2025, GOTOES was hit by a massive DDoS attack, causing frequent outages for many users. At the same time, I discovered that a large number of users had connected their Garmin accounts to GOTOES, resulting in our servers being pinged by Garmin every few seconds, further overwhelming our resources.
What’s Changing
To address these issues, I’ve made significant investments to mitigate the excessive traffic and keep the site stable. Moving forward:
- Only donors will be able to link their Garmin accounts to GOTOES.
- I will now be enforcing the donation "expiration date." The formula is simple: $10 USD provides one year of access, and each additional dollar adds another 36.5 days. $10 is the "minimum entry" to access ALL features & remove ads; $3 is the "minimum entry" to only remove ads. I’m not a fan of subscriptions myself and avoid them unless absolutely necessary. GOTOES continues to provide every Strava data field for free, and I hope you find this valuable. Maintaining this website is costly, not to mention the many hours I spend each day (sometimes more than 12!) helping users directly, keeping everything running smoothly, and adding features. My goal is always to deliver a product of the highest quality.
