FAQ: How to add Connect IQ (developer data) to your GOTOES export [Solved]

Update February 11, 2026
The content below is no longer relevant. In late January 2026, I changed how GOTOES works. Previously, I had users "opt in" to processing extra FIT data fields. Thanks to achieving a sufficient donation base, I've been able to pay for a more powerful server that can handle a large influx of FIT processing requests. As a result, I made processing of ALL FIT fields a universal feature - so users no longer have to remember to check the box. I am leaving the post below up for archival purposes only (and so we don't get any "deal links" on posts referring to this topic) .
When you import FIT Files into GOTOES, the tool tries to read in all of the data that can be displayed on Strava. If you are using another platform - such as Garmin Connect, you might want to import fields that are not supported by Strava. There are two types of extra data that you can add from FIT Files: Connect IQ fields and Garmin Native Fields
How to import Connect IQ fields into GOTOES
As of this writing, GOTOES supports Connect IQ RECORDS and SESSIONS. That should cover 99% of what most people are looking for... but I hope to add DEVICE and LAP ConnectIQ fields in the future. To add the ConnectIQ data to your GOTOES export, please select the "ConnectIQ" stream checkbox from a FIT file that has ConnectIQ data fields. If there are not any ConnectIQ data fields in the file, you will be notified.
How to import Garmin Native Fields
I have a discussion on the list of available "Garmin Native Fields" here. GOTOES ignores these fields because Strava doesn't support them... but if you are using a tool other than Strava, you will want to select the "Parse Rarely Used FIT Fields" checkbox. This checkbox only appears if you have one or more FIT Files loaded. GOTOES cannot tell if you have a FIT file embedded in your ZIP file, so please do not zip FIT files - especially if you want to use this feature.
