I have been trolling through my data files and have several older FIT files that used a Wahoo Bolt or an old Edge computer. I see some errant GPS points/sections and I can't quite figure out a good way to remove them.

Could you have a look at the attached FIT file?
The problem seems to be that in one case I was stopped for a bit, and the GPS seemed to jump out to some other locations and back. It is far more than a single data point to delete. I am not sure if your Merge / Repair fit tool can do multiple point deletes easily. In another instance in the same file, it jumped to another place and came back to a different point. I am ok with losing the intervening data - I just don't want a final GPS track that has points I never rode on it, even if it means losing some travel that was never accurately recorded. I read the tutorials on single point deletion, and on segment reconstruction. I think I'm basically after segment deletion.

Any suggestions? As usual thanks for building and supporting these tools. Most helpful.

Yes, GOTOES can do this. Did you try clicking the blue “edit points” button? That will automatically “flag” stray points and you can just jump to the next flagged point and hit the trash can icon to delete it. Did you already try that?

I have been using the Blue "Edit Points + View Map / Charts" button.
It does not seem to be flagging stray points, but that is likely because there are too many. I don't know what actually happened on that ride but if you look at the file you can see very clear straight line sections but there are many data points between the start and end of the straight line sections. ( a couple hundred)
Does the white square that is tracking along the route represent actual data points or is is just a graphic of a dot under the cursor that is inline with the data points on either side of the cursor? Or said another way - is the white square jumping from actual data point to data point or is the screen representation of where the white square is an interpolation?
Am I able to click on a row in the data table and have a dot representing that data appear on the map?

Is there a way to delete a segment of points, or a shift click in the table between two rows to select all the in between rows and then hit delete?
Also - what does "Redacted" mean in the columns?

Thanks again for this question. I used your sample file to “tune” the tool to work better! Previously, I had the tool detecting points that went REALLY far away… like to the South Pole. Your file helped me improve the tool so it could catch points that were clearly wrong, but much closer to the original track… without getting false-positives. Starting with version 43.3, all of your spurious GPS points are being detected.

Go ahead and give the tool another try. I think you will be pleased! Today I also added a feature to delete ALL points that GOTOES detects. This will save a lot of time because in your instance, more than 200 spurious points were identified.

To answer your other questions:

1) The "white square" that "tracks" along the route (as you hover over the red line) does not indicate real points - but if you try to drag from an interpolated point, GOTOES will find the "nearest neighbor" and locate/move that point instead.

2) Yes, there is now a way to delete a "chunk" of points - that is the new feature I added today (see the image below of where to click).

3) Redacted (in red) means that this item will be removed from your final export. So, for example, if you uncheck "Watts" on the previous page, that means that you have elected to remove the Power Meter (Watts) data from your GOTOES export. Items will also show in red/redacted if they are not available in any of the source files to begin with.
