I inadvertently recorded a bike ride with my Garmin set to 'Indoor mode'. Consequently, the file (FIT) has no GPS data. I thought I might be able to use the Race Repair to add a GPX track for the actual route and save as a TCX/GPX to upload to Strava. I am not getting the result I expected; I just get a file with the time and distance but the track is just a straight line from start to finish.
Maybe there is something in the original FIT file that is flagging it as an indoor activity I need to fix?
Could you give me some hints/instructions how to achieve this.
Thanks.
How to add a GPX to an indoor activity
Re: How to add a GPX to an indoor activity
There are two ways to do this, and one of them is the race repair tool.
The other method is the "generate fake track" method - which I have instructions for at this URL:

If you have a GPX track, you can replace your existing track with that one... and if you don't, you can use the "circle" method.
NOTE: This only works if you have speed stored on your Garmin recording. So if your Garmin did not record speed (it can get it from a wheel sensor for example)... then there is no way to calculate how far along the track you moved at any given moment. If that is the case, you will need to start from scratch by using the Timestamp tool. This tool allows you to fabricate an activity from scratch. Enter the start/end times, and you will get a GPS course. Then you can export that activity and merge it with the one from your Garmin to superimpose your heart rate, power, or any other stats that were recorded by your garmin device.
