Moving Time on Indoor Workouts
Hi, nice tool. Is there anyway that moving time can be calculated for the actual moving time rather than elapsed time. E.g. I did 4 Sufferfest sessions this morning with a combined moving time of 2hr 50m 50s, but when I combined them with your excellent tool it displayed the moving time the same as the elapsed (i.e. including my short breaks between rides).
Re: Moving Time on Indoor Workouts
Thanks for sending me your files. I now know what is going on. It is because this is an indoor activity.
I did some research on Strava’s website to try and figure out why they aren’t recognizing the stopped time for these activities, and it appears that this is because it is an indoor workout. From their help pages:
Anyway, if you want to learn more about how they differentiate between moving and elapsed time, you can go here: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/art ... u%20aren't.
I did try playing around with my tool to see if I could get Strava to recognize the stopped time - but I just couldn’t figure out how to “trick” strava into registering stopped time…. You may want to try using the "Interpolate Tracks (Add points)" feature to see if that fixes the issue.

When does Strava show moving time and when does it show elapsed time?
We show both moving and elapsed time when you look at any activity’s details. Because moving time is the best measure of how long you were active, especially for sports like running and cycling, Strava will generally prioritize moving time and pace based on moving time in places like the activity feed, activity screens, and pages, challenges, goals, and stats. Some exceptions:
If an activity is tagged as a race, we will use elapsed time (and speed/pace based on elapsed time) as all stops count as part of your race time.
Certain sports lend themselves better to elapsed time, including indoor ones like Yoga and Weight Training, and some outdoor ones like Skiing and Surfing (note that speed for Skis is still based on moving time.)
Segments and Best Efforts are always based on elapsed time, as these are similar to races in that resting time is part of how long it takes you to complete them from start to finish.
