Incorrect Distance on Overlapping GPS Files.

Post by GotoesUser »

Hi. thank you for a great app. I am trying to combine two files that have a large overlap. One was recorded on Strava app and one on Garmin 510. I have downloaded them to both be .gpx and attempted to combine them. I checked the box 'remove duplicates' regarding overlaps. see below. But the resulting file was a lot longer than I had ridden. it said 160m but I had only ridden 136. ~Some of the files you uploaded have overlaps. How do you want to deal with the overlaps? Keep All Trackpoints Remove Duplicates Only With Position ? I think my Garmin 80mile file had some straight lines on it, some pausing mistakes I made, but the final 50m section of it is good, and the strata file had a correct beginning 107miles. I really I would combine the first 107 with the final 30miles from the Garmin. Is this possible? Any help gratefully received. Thank you

Ah, the duplicates feature refers to the actual track points, but what you are looking to do is to trim. In the second page where you select the options, look at the Column with the times. At the top of that column, there is a checkbox for crop / trim... check that box and then you can copy the start time from the second activity to the end time for the first activity. That will trim out the overlap.
