FAQ : How to fix Invalid Time in your GPS File for Strava (solved)

Post by fulmar2 »

Sometimes your GPS will die on you or corrupt your activity File. There are many different ways that the file could get corrupted, but a common one is to have a timestamp (or several timestamps) far in the past or far in the future. GOTOES can automatically detect these oddball timestamps and give you a warning. First, upload your activity file(s) to the GOTOES Merge and Repair tool. **If the Merge and Repair tool cannot load your file, check out my FIT File Repair Tutorial Hub for other solutions.

Here is what it looks like when GOTOES detects invalid timestamps. You will need to delete these manually.

If you see the red warning signs like my image above, that means will need to delete these errant points. Next you will need to click the "Edit Points" button:

GOTOES will probably auto-suggest which items need to be deleted as the edit points tool loads:

Next, in the table, you will see a link that lets you scroll directly to a point that GOTOES knows is invalid.

Once you scroll to the errant point, you should click the trash can icon to delete it. Be sure to delete ALL of the errant points in your file(s)

Once you have deleted the errant points, you should leave the "Edit Points" tool.

...and scroll to the bottom to export your repaired file!
